Depression

First I am sorry I don't speak Italian. And for this special reason I ask you to help me because it's hard for foreign to find a Doctor in Italy.
I am 24 years old. I used to be the success in my studies. The second or third on my class.
When I went to college, six years ago, I got depressed and I don't know why.
In addition to depression I couldn't concentrate in my study. I forgot what I study and the small things I should not to forget. I can't focus in one thing. I have a daydreams always. I am not organized anymore. I try to study day by day with professor but I can't. At the end hardly I study in the last few days before exams and I pass exam hardly or I fail. However I know I am smart and that is why I got my bachelor degree in engineering. I always tried to resist this depression to go on in my life. Of course the self-confidence help me a lot.
I decided in the last year to come to Italy to continue my studies hopping I will also forget this depression. Anyway what happened is the opposite. These problems get worse. I can't now study even in the last day before exam. anything I study in one day, I forget in the next one. I can't study Italian language which I love. I tried to buy Prozac but it needs a recipe to buy one in Italy.

Dear Sir,

you can try to call or look at the internet website of the American Embassy in Italy. There is a list of Italian doctors, also psychiatrists, who speak in English and who are admit to take care every trouble.
Furthermore, in an emergency, you can accede to the first aid (Emergency Room - Pronto soccorso) of each Italian hospital.

Dear Sir, please note that in Italy most drugs are subject to medical prescription and are not free sale.

In any case it would be better for you to consult a physician/psychiatrist first, to receive adequate assessment of your symptoms. You can follow Dr. Lai's suggestions for that.

Best regards

Dear Sir,

First I am sorry too cause I don't speak English very well.

I think that if you try to forget depression you will find every time the opposite. I think that if you are able to write on this website perhaps you're also able to read Italian language. So I link you this article about depression assessment and therapy.
